The Glowing Lady’s Day

Recently, a few articles have been circulating online with claims that the Sun might be a conscious being thanks to something they detected in its electromagnetic waves.

With that, I almost immediately went straight to my desk to write a little something dedicated to the humble Sun who’s been keeping the world alive since time immemorial.

This small bit of prose takes a snapshot of the Sun’s typical day, from feeding the plants to watching the people avoid her blinding glow.

Happy Reading!

She wakes up early, well before breakfast time comes, and gets herself ready. She reveals herself from the dark blue blanket, revealing layers of red-orange tinted fluffy blankets that cover her during the cold nights. She sheds those, too, and revels in making her full form visible to the world.

Her form is pudgy, almost round, her skin glowing an almost orange-yellow hue that could be seen from afar.

Whenever she lays her hand on any plant or flower she comes across, their colors seem to become more vivid and bright. As she passes a farm by the east, she hears chickens roost, cows moo, and sheep bleat as they bask in her heavenly glow.

People used to revere her by giving her gifts and singing her praises. Nowadays, they simply walk past her as they carry on their mundane lives, though some would occasionally commend her continuous glow or complain that she glowed too much some days. Not that such complaints bother her.

High noon is when her glow is strongest, radiating heat as she feeds the plants the sugar they need. People use all sorts of garments to shield themselves against her heat and blinding glow.

As the day progresses to its second half, she becomes more tired, slowly walking westward back home to her bed full of thick blankets.

The plants lose their vivid color while the animals and the people go to sleep. Dusk comes and she begins to wrap herself in those thick red-orange blankets she has adored since the beginning of time.

Not long after, the darkest blankets wrap over her and she falls asleep, done and satisfied with her work for that day.
